Appointed by Eskom, Themba Consultants sent a team of Engineers to Kusile Power Station to carry out pipeline and structural inspections on their underground infrastructure. With some manholes being 18 meters in depth, the project called for specialist training. The team were trained through NOSA in working at heights, confined space entry and rescue.

Pipelines big enough to walk through were visually inspected while smaller pipelines were inspected by means of a high-tech CCTV remote system. Concrete strength tests and reinforcing scanning was carried out in order to sign off these essential structures.

Working under tight deadlines, the team successfully completed their target manholes and pipelines and ensured the safe and efficient first fire and running of units 1 and 2 at Kusile Power Station.

With a 200m dynamic asphalt surface drag strip, 70m diameter concrete skid pan, exhibition off-road playpark and a full off-road track entwined with the Jukskei River, as well as an internationally renowned building facility, Jaguar Landrover Experience sets the bar very high for any facility of this nature. Located just off Main road in Lonehill, the facility harmonizes civil and structural engineering perfectly. The 3 storey building encompasses a double volume showroom, workshop, restaurant, cinema room and various offices and meeting rooms. The hanging concrete entrance wall is not only the engineering focal point, but also creates a strong, clean look to the facade of the building. The balcony overlooking the various tracks creates a breathtaking view when combined with the adult wild olive trees and other greenery that surrounds the facility.
